Related Party Transfer — Client Details

Please complete this form so we can prepare the transfer documents for your related party transfer.

What is a related party transfer?

A related party transfer is a change of ownership of a property between people or entities who are related — for example between spouses or domestic partners, family members, or associated companies and trusts. Because there is often no sale on the open market, we need accurate details of the parties, the property and the reason for the transfer so we can prepare the correct documents and advise you on any duty payable or exemption that may apply.

Duty and market value

Even where little or no money changes hands, the State Revenue Office generally assesses stamp duty on the market value of the property unless a specific exemption or concession applies. Some transfers — such as between spouses or domestic partners, or following a relationship breakdown — may be exempt. Please answer the questions below as accurately as possible so we can advise you correctly.

Getting it right

It’s important that your answers are accurate, as we will rely on this information to act on your behalf and to prepare the transfer and any State Revenue Office lodgements. If you are unsure about any question, please leave it blank and we will follow up with you.

If you’re unsure about any question, or your circumstances change, please contact our office on (03) 4313 4343 so we can assist or complete the form together.
